Paiute ATV Trail 01 from Circleville to Trail 02

 The main trail 01 north and west from Circleville is rated advanced. The trail is very rocky with rolling hills gradually climbing till just after the intersection with Trail 33. After the intersection there is then some steep switchbacks just before you reach the top where Trail 01 intersects with Trail 88. There are many places along the trail that provide fantastic viewpoints to the valley below. There is some nice primitive camping spots on Trail 01 from Highway 153 and Trail 88. For some reason you cannot ride on Highway 153 a dirt road which closes pretty much all roads except roads on the Paiute ATV Trail System on the mountain. Therefore all roads to the lakes are closed except LaBaron. At LaBaron you have a side trail with a hike to the lake. From the intersection with Trail 88, Trail 01 crosses highway 153 twice and you are manly on forest roads till 2.5 miles past the second time you cross highway 153. Trail 01 then becomes ATV width only and starts to decend down to the intersection with Trail 27. From Trail 27 to the intersection with Highway 153 the trail is a road, along the river above Three Lakes there is a few primitive camping spots. From Highway 153 you will start to climb up to the highest part of the Paiute ATV Trail around 11,000 feet. This part of the Paiute ATV trail is usually closed till mid July due to snow. Call the Forest service to see if it is open. There is also a herd of Rocky Mountain Goats on top usually of to the east right on top by the radio tower. There is gas, cafe, grocery store and camping in Circleville.
