Kane Creek Canyon Rim
Overlook ATV Trail
This trail provides a wonderful view of Kane Creek
Canyon from above. You will also drive by Picture Frame Arch.
On the difficult ride section you can view Pritchett Natural Bridge.
Take highway 191 south of Moab for 12 miles.
Right after a steep incline when the passing lane merges back to one
lane, you will turn right. It comes up pretty quick after
peeking the hill. There is a lot of camping on this trail the
first mile. The road is good enough for any RV.
This trail follows the Behind The Rocks Road.
This can be an easy to moderate trail ride or a difficult trail ride
if you want to make it a loop ride.
You
could take the easy part of the Behind the Rocks Road, pass Picture
Frame Arc to the Kane Creek Canyon Rim Road and back. Most
people shouldn't have any problems with this as long as you go slow.
This is about a four or five hour ride.
For
the difficult ride you can take the Behind the Rocks Road to Picture
Frame Arch and the then go to the Tip Toe Behind the Rock Road back
to the Behind the Rocks road and then do a short trail ride on the
Pritchett Canyon Road to View Pritchett Natural Bridge back to the
Kane Creek Overlook around on the easy trail back to the trailhead.
There are parts of the Behind the Rocks Trail that are to steep for
ATV's and should be avoided. This is a good 6 hour ride depending on
how many side roads you go on.
This is the over look, looking down on Kane Creek Canyon.
This is the intersection of Pritchett Canyon Road and Hunter Canyon
and both Behind The Rocks Roads.
This is Pritchett Natural Bridge. Not far from intersection.
This is where we turned around on the Pritchett Canyon Road.
It was getting dark. From here you climbed up then down a slot
canyon. Don't know if an ATV could go on the road. |
